About - FT8DMC

Welcome to the FT8 Digital Mode Club (FT8DMC)

Founded on July 12, 2017 by Jo Engelbrecht (OE6VIE) and Hannes Grünsteidl (OE3SGU/OE1SGU), the FT8 Digital Mode Club (FT8DMC) was established to support the growing community of FT8 operators. Recognizing a need for a dedicated club to assist newcomers and less-experienced users, FT8DMC was created to provide guidance, promote best practices, and celebrate the power of this innovative digital mode.

Within just two days of its inception, FT8DMC proudly welcomed over 100 members worldwide—a testament to the popularity and potential of FT8.

Who Can Join?

Everyone with a passion for FT8 is welcome!
Membership is completely free, and all new members will receive a personalized membership certificate within 7 days of registration.

Getting Started with FT8

FT8 is a mode developed by Joe Taylor (K1JT) and others who have contributed significantly to digital communications. We strongly encourage all members to explore the resources available:

WSJT-X and JTDX user manuals
FT8 operating tips and best practices
Online forums, guides, and tutorials

A quick search online can also yield a wealth of helpful information for both beginners and advanced users.

How to Apply for FT8DMC Awards

Since February 2018, FT8-DMC has been fully integrated into the UltimateAAC (Ultimate Award Application Center). Members and non-members alike can easily apply for FT8-DMC awards using the UltimateAAC platform.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Download the UltimateAAC Software:
- Visit www.epc-mc.eu
- Navigate to:
  - Downloads > UltimateAAC
  - Choose your operating system: Windows, macOS, or Linux
Install and Configure:
- Complete the installation.
- Enter the required user information when prompted.
Apply for Awards:
- Open UltimateAAC and select the FT8DMC from the list of supported clubs.
- Upload your logbook file (e.g., *.adi, *.adif).
- All awards for which you qualify will be indicated in green.
- Click the „APPLY“ button next to any award you’d like to request.
Confirmation and Download:
- After applying, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your personal Download ID.
- Save this ID – it will be required to access your awards in the future.
- Once your award is ready, you will receive a second email from the Award Manager.
- Use your callsign and Download ID to retrieve your award

🆔 Note: Your personal Download ID remains valid for all future award downloads.
